The other day.

The other day I was reading past blog posts. Actually I was trying to find a picture for the Minnetonka moccasins rep search… Free moccs for me and maybe for baby? Yes please. I tried to find my most hippie looking picture in hopes that is what they are looking for. A girl has got to dream, right? This is what I ended up with…

Anyways… motherhood. or something like that. It has been pretty (mostly) great. Little K is an awesome addition to our family. She is happy, smart, non-mobile (still! I can leave her to say, go to the bathroom, and she is still there when I come back), and working so hard to be mobile. Since we anticipate it is going the day will come when she no longer stays in the same place, today we put up the baby gate. Let me tell you, that piece of rubbish was the hardest thing ever to put together. And I didn’t even put it together. Jacob did. It was painful to watch. It is like they are testing parents… are you man or woman enough to follow our nonsense instructions and keep your baby safe? No bueno. We still have yet to baby proof all the drawers, cabinets, plugs, etc. but remember, the gate… we will save that for another day.

Her slow scooting self inched over to the laundry the other day while I was getting ready. Yep that’s gross… but I had to take a picture of it before I moved her. She was so proud.

IMG_5185My favorite blogger Grace is pregnant with number 5. In five years. What a woman! You go girl. If you want to be humored by much funnier blog posts then you can go to her blog here.

Lastly, bow making has been my jam the past couple of months. I even opened an etsy shop! If you or your daughter, niece, or friend need a bow then let me know… I can make you one. I’d love it. See shop here!

Valentines bowsWell, that’s it for now. Have a wonderful week!

Perfect Pumpkin Spice Latte

In the past, one of my favorite parts about fall is the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. I would always eagerly await their fall debut and be one of the first in line to get that yummy drink. However, after I read this article and after my coffee budget was cut in fourth (not even half…) with my new income as a stay at home mom of nothing, I decided it was time to experiment and find one that I like to make. I used a combination of a few recipes that I found online and adjusted the flavors to what I like. I hope you like it too!

photoPerfect Pumpkin Spice Latte

1/3 cup 100% Pure Pumpkin

1 T. Coconut milk (from the can) (or whole milk)

1/2 t. Pumpkin Pie Spice

2 heaping Tablespoons Brown Sugar

1 cup of coffee- I just made a cup in the Keurig

3/4 cup coconut milk (from the can)(or you can use whole milk)

1. In a saucepan, mix pumpkin, 1T. Coconut Milk, Pumpkin Pie spice, sugar, and coffee on Med-Low. Don’t let it boil, just get it hot.

2. In another saucepan, heat 3/4 c. Coconut milk on Medium until it is hot (no boiling) and then I used our frother to froth the milk for the latte.

3. Combine pumpkin mix and milk in a coffee cup. Stir.

4. Sprinkle Pumpkin Pie spice on top! Enjoy!

Our Newborn Favorites

When I was pregnant, I did TONS of research on what are the best baby products to get. I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t getting ‘duds’ because I plan on using the items for all of our (hopefully, many) children. Since having Kolbe, I have had the opportunity to go registry shopping with a few friends and help them prepare for their newborn. Here are a few of my favorites for a newborn (0-3 month) baby. I’ll do a few more posts with my nursing favorites, and favorites for 3-6 months coming soon.

IMG_20591. Solly Baby Wrap. OB-SESSED. This was such a lifesaver to me those first few months especially for the summer. It is lightweight, stretchy, and comfortable. What a way to bond with your baby. Kolbe loves being close to me and I truly think she cried a lot less because I wore her a lot of the time.

2. A Rock and Play Little Lamb Sleeper. I bought the most gorgeous bassinet from Restoration Hardware. I had every intention of Kolbe sleeping in that at night time. Well, little missy had her own plan and wouldn’t sleep out of my arms unless it was in the rock and play. The vibrator helped calm her down too.

IMG_35203. This bathtub. She can lay on one side of the bathtub and when she gets older she can sit on the other side. This tub is awesome because she doesn’t slip around or move in any way. We used it from 4 days old and I know we will be able to use it for awhile. Just a warning it is pretty big but worth it.

4. City Mini GT stroller. I love this stroller. It moves so easily, turns with one hand, and opens/folds up with a simple pull. Watch Amazon on this one because I got mine for almost a hundred dollars cheaper than it is on here. If you know about camel camel camel you can follow the price and get a notification when it drops to your desired amount.

5. Aden and Anais Bamboo Swaddle Blankets. These are Kolbe’s favorites or one could say, her ‘loveys’. She has to have one at all times. I love them too because they are so soft and lightweight.

IMG_17486. Guava mitts and booties. K wore these all the time when she was a newborn. They have velcro so they stay on her hands and feet. I love that instead of socks she can wear these and the prints are so stinkin cute.

7. Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle. We tried about 6 different types of swaddles before this one and little Houdini would worm her way out each and every time. I finally used the free Halo swaddle that we were given at the airport and she slept with arms down for the first night. She has finally graduated to the non-swaddle sleep sack but we still use these because we love them. Also, we have the fleece ones because we keep our house so cold.

8. Noodle and Boo Shampoo and Lotion. Only the best smelling wash and lotion out there and my sensitive skin child has never broken out while using it. Mmm mmm love it.

I hope this helps when you are registering!

My 2014 Fall Bucket List

I love the fall! Football season, cooler weather, pumpkin everything, the clothing, pretty much everything about it makes my heart sing. Before I was a stay at home mom, it also signaled the beginning of the school year and all the anticipation a new class of little learners brings. Now that I get to stay home with my own little learner, I want to go on our own little adventures to give her some new experiences and to keep life interesting.

Mara from MlovesM had the amazing idea to have an ‘Autumn List‘ of things that she hopes to accomplish this fall. I decided to put together my own bucket list of things for this fall.

1. Go to a pumpkin patch and take the cliche but oh so cute pumpkin pictures

2. Go to the Texas State Fair and try a sampling of unhealthy fried fair food

3. Make a really delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte

4. Drink the said latte outside in the cool fall morning

5. Take as many walks as possible in those fall mornings

6. Make and eat Gluten Free Pumpkin Pancakes

7. Go to a Baylor football game and OSU homecoming

8. Play in a pile of leaves

9. Have a ZOO day!

10. Do Hallie Lord’s Spice up your marriage: 28 day challenge

Not enough hours

There are not enough hours in the day. Ever since having a new baby it feels like the day just flies by, the weeks end just as quickly as they begin, and the next thing I know, I have a 5 month old. Ever since I had Kolbe, I have felt like I needed to blog but I couldn’t make more hours in the day. As a new mom, I want to be in every moment. I was very fortunate after much discussion and prayers, to be able to stay home with sweet K this year. Although I sincerely miss being in the schools, I know that these years are so special to get to see all of Kolbe’s ‘little moments’. Each day is an adventure with ups and downs and trying to get the little things done but they might not happen depending on the mood of a certain baby… One thing that has been priceless to me over the past several months is get to nap with Kolbe. Breathing in her sweet smell, watching her smile those precious sleeping smiles, and living in each moment knowing that this most likely will only happen with the first little. I don’t want to give up my nap times but I know it is time to start letting little K have some independence. So I will blog. I will blog because I need a place to share and chat. I adore reading other mom’s blogs because they just ‘get it’. So, I hope this can be a place where you will feel the same way. I am determined to make more hours because this is important. YOU are important to me.
